Commercial Landscape Sales Professional
About the Employer
Based in Lynn, MA, our client is a premier commercial landscaping provider serving the North Shore, Greater Boston and southern New Hampshire areas. Backed by private equity and poised for significant growth, they balance a "roll-up-your-sleeves" operational culture with a refined, professional sales strategy. With a team of 100 employees, they are currently modernizing their systems—transitioning from legacy processes to industry-leading software (Aspire)—making this an exciting time for a tech-savvy professional to join the team.
About the Position
This is a high-impact role for a self-starter who can drive new business while nurturing long-term client relationships. Reporting directly to company leadership, the Sales Professional will be responsible for securing approximately $1 million in new commercial maintenance contracts (condominiums, industrial spaces, and apartment complexes). Unlike "churn and burn" sales roles, this position functions as an Account Manager, allowing you to remain the primary face of the account and build lasting partnerships with property managers.
Responsibilities
- Drive Commercial Sales: proactively target and secure maintenance contracts with commercial properties, condominiums, and industrial facilities, aiming for a $1M annual revenue target.
- Manage Client Accounts: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients post-sale, ensuring long-term satisfaction and securing contract renewals.
- Conduct Site Assessments: Walk properties to identify issues (e.g., dead trees, weeds, pruning needs) and upsell enhancement services like tree work, fertilization, or irrigation repairs.
- Create Proposals: Draft accurate estimates and proposals (currently using Microsoft Word/Excel) and assist in the future transition to Aspire software for standardized pricing.
- Winter Operations: Participate in snow and ice management sales or operations during the winter months to maximize annual earnings.
- Cultivate Networks: Build your own book of business through networking and cold outreach, rather than relying solely on provided leads.
Requirements
- Industry Experience: Proven background in the landscaping industry is essential; you must be able to identify plant health issues and "speak the language" of property maintenance.
- Sales Track Record: Demonstrated ability to close commercial deals and manage client relationships; experience with "hunter" sales tactics is highly valued.
- Tech Adaptability: Comfort with technology is required to navigate the company’s upcoming migration to Aspire landscape management software.
- Valid Driver’s License: Required for site visits and client meetings; a company vehicle is provided.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 annually plus commission.
- Earning Potential: Realistic On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $90,000+, with potential to reach $100,000–$105,000 or more with snow plowing involvement.
- Company Vehicle: Pickup truck provided (flexible options available based on candidate needs).
- Retirement: 401(k) with up to 4% match (eligible after 90 days).
- Health & Wellness: Health insurance (50% company contribution), with options for dental and vision.
- Professional Development: Coverage for relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Arborist, Landscape Professional) and classes.
