Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Tree & Shrub Department Manager to lead one of the most important areas of our garden center. This role is responsible for the overall operation, presentation, and success of the tree and shrub department. The ideal candidate has strong plant knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities Department Management · Oversee daily operations of the tree and shrub department · Maintain attractive, organized, and well-stocked displays · Manage inventory including ordering, receiving, pricing, and stock rotation · Ensure the health and quality of all trees and shrubs through proper care practices including watering, pruning, and monitoring plant health Sales & Customer Service · Provide knowledgeable guidance to customers selecting trees and shrubs · Assist customers with plant selection, planting advice, and care recommendations · Drive department sales through product knowledge and customer engagement · Ensure a positive and helpful customer experience at all times Team Leadership · Supervise, train, and support staff within the tree and shrub department · Delegate tasks and coordinate daily workloads · Maintain high standards of teamwork, productivity, and plant care Marketing & Department Sales Development · Take ownership of marketing and promotional efforts within the department · Work with management to develop seasonal displays, promotions, and sales initiatives · Identify opportunities to increase sales through merchandising, product selection, and customer education · Help create signage, plant information, and promotional ideas that inspire customers and highlight the department’s offerings Training · On-the-job training will be provided where needed to ensure success in the role and familiarity with store procedures and systems.
