This is a hands-on leadership opportunity based in Morristown, NJ for an experienced landscape professional who can oversee and execute high-quality landscape installation projects across both residential and commercial markets. The Landscape Installation Manager will be responsible for leading field operations, managing crews, coordinating materials and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, and maintaining the quality standards expected by the company.
This role requires strong operational leadership, jobsite presence, technical landscape knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accountability across people, process, and production.

This role requires the ability to manage multiple installations simultaneously, coordinate timelines, anticipate jobsite challenges, and keep projects moving efficiently from kickoff through completion. This role also requires financial awareness; including job costing, hours estimated vs. actual hours used, material costing etc.
Leadership Presence:
The successful candidate needs to lead from the frontline, create accountability in the field, communicate expectations clearly, and earn the respect of both crews and clients by having boots on the ground and consistent presence.
Technical Landscape Knowledge:
In this position the Landscape Installation Manager must have strong knowledge of grading, drainage, planting, hardscape installation, irrigation coordination, and general landscape construction best practices.
Problem Solving and Decisiveness:
The Landscape Installation Manager must identify issues quickly, adapt to changing site conditions, and make sound decisions that protect schedule, budget, and quality.
Communication and Cross Functional Coordination:
The Landscape Installation Manager must communicate clearly upward, downward, and across departments so sales, estimating, procurement, field teams, and clients remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Execution & Operational Accountability:
• Oversee day to day field operations for residential and commercial landscape installation projects.
• Manage project schedules, labor planning, equipment usage, and material coordination to ensure timely completion of work.
• Lead installation crews and subcontractors with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and accountability.
• Review plans, scopes, site conditions, and production goals prior to project startup.
• Coordinate jobsite logistics including deliveries, inspections, equipment needs, and subcontractor scheduling.
• Ensure projects are installed according to contract documents, design intent, company standards, and client expectations.
• Monitor labor productivity, installation quality, and daily progress against project budgets and timelines.
• Identify and resolve field issues involving layout, drainage, grading, plant material, hardscape details, access challenges, and customer concerns.
• Maintain job cost awareness and communicate cost overruns, production delays, or scope changes promptly.
• Support project closeout, punch list completion, and turnover to client or maintenance teams as required.
• Work closely with estimating and sales teams to support smooth project handoffs and accurate field execution.
• The Landscape Installation Manager must be flexible in their thinking when it comes to balancing production efficiency, design expectations, and site realities.
Leadership & Team Development:
• Hire, train, and mentor crew leaders and installation personnel to support long term team growth and performance.
• Create a culture of ownership, urgency, professionalism, and pride in workmanship.
• Establish clear field expectations and hold teams accountable for attendance, performance, quality, and safety.
• Provide ongoing coaching and development to improve technical skill, leadership ability, and production consistency.
• Support workforce planning and staffing needs during peak seasonal demand.
Safety, Quality Control & Process Compliance:
• Enforce rigorous safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
• Conduct regular job site inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to plans and specifications.
• Ensure equipment, tools, and vehicles are properly used, maintained, and secured.
• Maintain accurate daily reporting, project documentation, and internal communication related to project status and field conditions.
• Support the use of documented processes and standard operating procedures to improve repeatability and execution.
Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years of progressive experience in landscape installation, landscape construction, or related field operations.
• 3+ years in a leadership role managing landscape installation crews, subcontractors, and active jobsites.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, production schedules, and field teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of landscape installation methods, materials, equipment, and jobsite sequencing.
• Demonstrated ability to read plans, manage quality standards, and execute work to specifications.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in landscape management, horticulture, construction management, or extensive allied industry experience.
• Experience in both residential and commercial landscape installation environments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to lead crews and interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Working knowledge of budgeting, job costing, and production tracking.
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
Position Requires:
• Completion of background check prior to employment commencement is required.
• Completion of Driver License Abstract is required prior to employment commencement.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
• Ability to lift greater than 50 lbs., walk jobsites, inspect work in progress, and maintain active field presence.
