Job Title: Golf Course Irrigation Technician
Department: Ground Maintenance
Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent
Job Summary: The Golf Course Irrigation Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the golf course irrigation system to ensure optimal turf health and playing conditions. This role works closely with the Superintendent and Grounds team to maintain high standards of course presentation and water efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair the golf course irrigation system, including pumps, valves, controllers, heads, and sensors
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical irrigation issues
- Perform routine system checks and preventative maintenance
- Assist with irrigation scheduling and water management to promote healthy turf and efficient water use
- Repairs mainline and lateral line breaks, leaks, and wiring issues
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts, and system performance
- Assist with general golf course maintenance as needed (mowing, course setup, aeration, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with local water use regulations and environmental best practices
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience with golf course or large-scale irrigation systems preferred
- Knowledge of irrigation controls, pump stations, and basic electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to read irrigation plans and schematics
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hand tools
Schedule
- Early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Seasonal or full-time position (depending on club needs)
