What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Irrigation, Maintenance, & Installation on Campus Irrigation System:
Perform walk-throughs as efficiently as possible for inspection on irrigation system
to ensure proper head performance and coverage. Repair heads, valves, wiring,
controllers, lateral pipe and mainline as needed. Participate in irrigation system
improvement projects as needed.
Ditch Maintenance:
Clean debris at the headgates of Anderson and Smith Goss ditches to maintain
proper flow for pond replenishment. Assist with chart recording and digital meter
readings to help account the amounts of water used through ditches and pump
stations.
Snow & Ice Removal:
Remove snow and ice from streets, parking lots, sidewalks and curbs. Apply
sand/salt or anti-icing chemical mixture using various equipment available to
Outdoor Services.
Maintain Work Vehicle:
Schedule and request vehicle maintenance with campus motor pool to perform
minor maintenance on Facilities Management vehicles and equipment. Coordinate
as appropriate with outdoor services mechanic for other equipment repair.
Maintain a constant supply of vehicle stock material for irrigation repairs as
necessary.
Safety:
Adhere to safety guidelines and policies developed by Human Resources, facilities
management safety committee, outdoor services safety group, and industry
standard processes.
Call Backs:
Being an essential services position, incumbent may have to respond to after
hours emergency issues related to snow/ice removal, pump station, irrigation
mainline, sprinkler zones, ditches, Lynx irrigation computer, radio communication
system, or other job related situations.
Complete additional miscellaneous grounds duties when needed. Examples of this
work are branch pick up after a storm, grounds support for graduation including
running a blower, placing mulch in beds, running a string trimmer, etc.
What You Should Know
This position is eligible for our Facilities Management Employee Referral Program.
This role will work five (5) eight-hour days per week, between the hours of 6:00 am
and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, based on staffing requirements of the
Department.
What We Require
Two years of experience with grounds keeping or landscape maintenance or a
related field.
Must have a valid Colorado driver's license and be a Colorado resident to apply.
What You Will Need
Ability to communicate well with other people.
Ability to work individually or as a team.
Ability to read and decipher irrigation maps and plans.
What We Would Like You to Have
Previous experience with irrigation system inspection, maintenance & repair.
Essential/Critical Services
This position is designated “essential services.” The incumbent is required to respond to requests
for work during campus emergencies (snow, wind, rain, flood and any other natural or man-made
event) and report to work for his / her regularly assigned shift during emergency campus closures.
