Position Summary: The Landscape Manager will manage all landscape activities related to the operations and development of CCA cemeteries, including procurement and scheduled use of resources such as labor, equipment and materials while completing operations in budget, on time and meeting all safety guidelines and requirements. This position promotes growth and development of cemetery employees in the area of landscape, while coordinating use of resources with other departments and supporting the operational activities of the entire company.
Compensation Data: Exempt: $65,000 - $75,000; based on direct relevant experience
Hours: Monday - Friday 7:15 am - 4:30 pm
Travel: Ability to travel to different CCA cemeteries throughout Northeast Ohio daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all organizational landscape projects including labor, equipment and materials.
- Manages and schedules labor, equipment and materials to accomplish mission schedules within established budgets. Maintains strict adherence to established schedules and budgets.
- Provide plans and/or documents for landscape staff and provides instruction to ensure crews are prepared to complete the job.
- Ensures all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines. Conducts safety training as needed and safety inspections on jobsites where applicable.
- Investigates any accident or safety violation, prepares appropriate reports, takes action steps to correct and prevent future occurrences. Defines and implements solutions to recurring accidents or most common hazards.
- Maintains proper inventory of materials, equipment and other supplies necessary to complete production activities.
- Order materials, equipment and supplies as needed within purchasing limits.
- Supervise employees, enforcing proper uniform and PPE use.
- Overall management of staff within division. Includes hiring recommendations, training, coaching, mentoring and developing staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual and division.
- Maintains sufficient staff to accomplish production schedules and analyzes future needs, forecast landscaping staff and material needs to complete future jobs and working with Cemetery Superintendents to achieve these goals/needs.
- Conducts timely performance reviews of direct reports and takes disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Coordinate the use of labor, equipment, materials and other resources with other divisions as needed.
- Obtain utility locations on needed properties no later than 48 hours prior to beginning work and update as needed.
- Visit job sites on a regular basis, observe organization of work, identify and resolve training issues, and taking necessary actions to ensure quality of cemetery care.
- Respond to customer complaints ensuring proper handling to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Maintain day-to-day working knowledge of all landscape contracts in progress, including field completion status, and communicate with accounting to ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Maintains costs within all assigned budgets.
- Monitor job costs weekly and immediately report to General Superintendent any jobs deviating from budgets of time, schedule, cost or any other factor so appropriate adjustments can be made to maximize end result.
- Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, and work-sites.
- Stay aware of Best Practices. Develop and recommend improved work methods and standards.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Qualifications
What you will need to succeed:
- Associates Degree in Landscaping Design/Horticulture
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Design/Horticulture or similar field preferred
- 3 - 5 years of direct relevant experience
- 6 - 8 years of direct relevant experience preferred
- 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience.
- 10-hour OSHA Certified, General Industry
- Knowledge of computer applications (CAD programs, Microsoft Office Suite)
- Current, Valid driver’s license
- Current, Valid Ohio Commercial Spray License
- Clean driving record/DISC Insurable
