Commercial Sales Account Manager
Location: Hudson, OH -- office-based with local travel to client sites.

The
Commercial Sales Account Manager is the key driver of growth, client retention, and long-term relationship management for Dohner's commercial portfolio. This role blends strategic sales, client engagement, operational coordination, and profitability management.
You will oversee a portfolio of commercial clients, ensure exceptional service delivery, identify enhancement opportunities, and generate new business. Your ability to build rapport, anticipate needs, and deliver a 5-star experience will directly impact company revenue and long-term success. This is a strategic, autonomous role ideal for a motivated, personable professional who excels in both relationship-building and results-driven sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a portfolio of commercial maintenance clients.
- Maintain a renewal rate through regular visits, communication, and issue resolution.
- Prepare renewal proposals and track renewal success weekly.
- Achieve new contract sales and enhancement sales annually.
- Build and maintain a strong prospect pipeline through networking and outreach.
- Submit proposals, follow up consistently, and document all activity in the CRM..
- Review job costs monthly and renegotiate or remove low-margin work when needed.
- Validate correct labor, materials, and markups in all proposals.
- Request reviews after milestones, respond to all feedback, and resolve concerns proactively.
- Help field teams reinforce the 5-star client experience.
- Work closely with operations to ensure quality service delivery.
- Share feedback from the field, support problem-solving, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience in landscaping account management, commercial maintenance sales, or a similar role.
- Proven track record in sales, client retention, and portfolio growth.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a personable, professional presence.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently in a newly created role.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and digital.
- High integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- CRM experience (or willingness to learn).
- Strong understanding of commercial landscaping services, seasonal needs, and client expectations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience in horticulture, landscape maintenance, or landscape construction.
- Background in enhancement sales or project upgrades.
- Knowledge of Northeast / Northern U.S. plant material & seasonal landscaping.
- Experience with proposals, estimating, or job costing.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $55,000 - $75,000 annually (DOE) + Commission

Schedule & Work Expectations
- Full-time, W-2 position; hours may vary based on client meetings and seasonal demands.
- Mix of office hours and local field visits.
- Communication expectations: return texts/calls/emails within 4 hours during business hours.
- Attendance at all staff meetings and training sessions is required.
- Must maintain a professional appearance, behaviour, and driving record.
