We are hiring a General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a high-volume garden center retail environment. This is a senior leadership role responsible for store performance, merchandising strategy, customer experience, and team development across multiple departments.
This position sits above store-level management and requires someone who can drive revenue growth, improve operational consistency, and create a destination retail experience. It's a hands-on role for a leader who understands both retail strategy and floor-level execution.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all retail operations, including store performance, merchandising, and customer experience
- Lead and develop store managers, supervisors, and frontline staff
- Design and execute merchandising strategies to increase foot traffic and average transaction value
- Monitor daily sales, staffing levels, and operational performance across departments
- Improve the in-store customer experience through layout, service standards, and team training
- Partner with ownership on business strategy, seasonal planning, and growth initiatives
- Manage inventory flow, product assortment, and seasonal transitions
- Build a strong team culture focused on accountability, service, and results
- Identify operational gaps and implement systems to improve performance and consistency
Requirements
- 5+ years of retail management experience, preferably in garden centers, landscaping supply, or similar environments
- Proven experience leading teams in a customer-facing retail environment
- Strong background in merchandising, product presentation, and sales strategy
- Experience managing multiple departments or store functions
- Demonstrated ability to improve customer experience and drive revenue growth
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
- Comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced retail setting
- Experience with inventory management, staffing, and daily store operations
