Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide professional maintenance of NTTA’s perishable landscape assets on an assigned Tollway. This is accomplished by removing litter/debris in landscape beds, performing erosion repairs and other minor landscaping projects, assisting with inspections and other preventative maintenance activities, as well as other activities associated with improving the appearance and condition of the landscaped areas. A strong “working” knowledge of landscape maintenance standards and practices is required for this position. This position requires proficiency in the operation of various landscape equipment including push mowers, zero turn mowers, weed eaters, chemical application equipment, dump trucks, front end loaders, forklifts, skid loaders, and various other landscape equipment. Other duties include identifying requirements to maintain supply inventories, making minor landscape and irrigation modifications and repairs.
This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
Starting Rate: $23/Hourly
Retention Bonus: $2,000

Responsibilities:
- Performs mowing, weed eating, and blowing of turf areas associated with landscapes.
- Maintains landscape assets and assists in the direction of mulching, weeding, chemical application, and trimming of ornamental grasses, shrubs and trees.
- Assists in the direction and layout of beds for ornamental grass, shrub, and tree replacement.
- Assists irrigation technician or licensed irrigator in landscape irrigation repairs.
- Applies pre- and post-herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides to the landscape assets under the direction of a licensed pesticide applicator.
- Applies fertilizers to landscape assets.
- Assists in educating junior members of the team on organizational processes and procedures.
- Participates in Snow and Ice Events by preparing, operating, and cleaning various pieces of equipment and vehicles.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- 6-months/1-year education or training beyond a high school diploma
- 3 – 5 years’ experience
- Class “B” CDL
- Ability to obtain tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire.
- Ability to obtain pesticide license within 12 months of hire.
Preferred:
- Tanker endorsement
- Pesticide license
