About Us: Healthy Homestead Design is a permaculture design company specializing in food forests and regenerative landscapes. We create edible, resilient, and beautiful outdoor spaces for homeowners through design, installation, and maintenance services.
Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced landscape installer to join our team. This position focuses on installing and maintaining permaculture-inspired gardens and landscapes.
Responsibilities: Landscape Installation: Managing, installing, and maintaining hardscapes, irrigation systems, raised beds, plantings, carpentry, and earthworks.
Planting: Planning and planting vegetables, trees, shrubs, and perennials.
Garden Maintenance: Proper pruning for aesthetics, food production, and plant health. Assessing plant and soil health and creating plans to improve them. Identifying weeds. Evaluating and fixing irrigation systems. Evaluating and fixing all landscape-related challenges for clients. Maintain a high, professional level of beauty for the gardens.
Soil Building: Assessing soil health, making compost, applying fertilizer, mulching, etc.
Site Preparation & Cleanup: Grading, soil amendments, and tool maintenance.
Tool & Vehicle Maintenance: Monitor and maintain a high-level quality of company tools and vehicles. Be able to assess when maintenance or repair is needed and complete the repair or schedule the appointment for more extensive repairs.
Scheduling and organizing workdays: Communicating with coworkers to determine scheduling, routes, optimizing systems, and more.
Requirements:
• Experience with hardscaping, irrigation systems, planting, carpentry, and other landscape installation-related skills. Enough experience to confidently complete projects with little or no advising.
• Ability to perform consistent hard labor in various weather.
• Knowledge of pruning techniques to promote food yields, aesthetics, and plant health.
• Knowledge of a wide range of common plants.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or with a team.
• Good social skills. Able to positively interact with coworkers and clients.
• Able to work a stable Mon – Fri schedule
• Passion for sustainable landscaping and permaculture principles.
Preferred Qualifications (Not required but helpful):
• Experience with food forest design and maintenance.
• Farming or vegetable gardening experience.
• Experience in permaculture design and regenerative landscaping.
• Knowledge of natural building techniques or rainwater harvesting.
• Equipment operation experience (mini excavators, skid steers, etc.).
• Own a truck that can be used for work.
