We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team! The Estimator at Bay Landscaping is vital to the sales process. The Estimator helps ensure Proposals are created with consistency and delivered timely and accurately. They will work with and support Account Managers in Enhancement proposals, Commercial Maintenance Contract Sales, and Commercial Construction Project Sales. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent mathematical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members.

Responsibilities:

Gather takeoff data required to prepare accurate bids/proposals.
Calculating the material costs of the construction project and creating estimates on labor and equipment required to build the project.
Measure lawn areas, beds areas and hardscapes to calculate the labor and equipment required to maintain the property.
Conduct site visits of the properties during the proposal process to assess and/or confirm site conditions.
Will work with other colleagues to arrive at a final job cost to present to the client.
Read and interpret plans and specifications.
Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate production rates based on specific project conditions.
Execute all aspects of the bidding process independently prior to bid review.
Consistently meet bid/proposal deadlines.
Support and help Account Managers with building enhancement proposals.
Mentor and develop less experienced team members.
Help follow-up on bids/proposals submitted and obtain detailed feedback.
Schedule and participate in job-walks with account managers during the Handoff Process.
Visit jobsite periodically during installation to ensure proper installation.
Update price list in estimating software as needed.
Periodically, measure production rates in the field and update in estimating software.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Understanding of bidding and sales processes.
General knowledge regarding installation of hardscape, drainage, irrigation, trees/bushes, and bed prep.
Measuring Tools – Google Earth, Adobe, Site Fotos, etc.
Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
Work in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
