Position Summary: The Branch Manager has total profit-making responsibility for all maintenance & snow related operations and directs the planning, budgeting, production, equipment and personnel. They also must be able to identify areas of opportunity to increase account growth and drive revenue.
This position oversees all aspects of their branch including customer relations and retention, credit and collection activities, and have visibility of sales performance.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in commercial landscaping business development, operations, or branch management. This position requires the ability to develop and inspire a successful team, maintain exceptional safety standards, drive operational efficiencies, and perform to the financial plan.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works with the SVP of Operations in the preparation of annual budgets for branch profit and loss, and for capital asset acquisition for all service lines; ensures that all levels of management are well informed concerning short- and long-range goals and are cognizant of their contributions to these goals
- Assumes complete responsibility for actual branch Income Statement and Balance Sheet performance to budget for the branch; works to increase net worth, reduce costs, and increase cash flow; constantly monitors volume of work levels and job mix for maximum effect
- Oversees branch fleet and facility management and administration of the branch; ensures that each manager has a well-rounded staff to support his/her requirements within budgetary bounds; insures that they do not extend their span of control beyond their abilities; reviews the progress of all managers at least annually, pursuant to the guidelines set by the wage and salary policy mechanism
- Develops, implements, and perpetuates field employee compliance with, and understanding of, the Company's policies and procedures for personnel, wage and salary compensation administration, safety, and field production procedures; maintains a current organization chart of the company and insures that all managers have the authority needed to carry out their assigned duties and to achieve the goals set for them
- Works with customers, contractors, competitors, vendors, and various communities within the operating region(s) to promote positive relationships and stimulate business development networking opportunities.
- Keeps abreast of local competition, area growth trends, and other circumstances of possible impact on regional Operations; keeps abreast of legislative developments and governmental actions affecting the Company. Gather and report intel to Sr Leadership Team.
- Executes the operational components of the business model; develops and executes short and long-range plans to meet Company objectives; anticipates, plans, schedules and promotes internal projects/initiatives within the Company timeline to the stages of development.
- Develops and implements Best Practices and procedures in all areas of field operations leveraging sophisticated technology; constantly pursues new ideas which could be implemented within the Company
- Provides for personnel cross training at all operational and sales levels within the organization to assure seamless, continued operations in the absence of any key or other personnel. Follows the “train your replacement” principles throughout the branch.
- Timely approves pay increases and other compensation for all branch personnel within the limits set by the wage and salary policy, as well as the annual budget; maintains predetermined compensation balances between positions
- Arranges special credit agreements with vendors and clients when authorized
- Negotiates the best pricing and terms with vendors. Approves purchases within the budget.
- Supports production manager in the recruitment, hiring, development , and termination of branch personnel.
- Responsible for the proper assignment of field dedicated vehicles and other capital equipment
- Reports weekly to SVP of Operations, any field problems or trends experienced. Reports injuries, accidents and serious problems daily.
- Maintains and builds a robust network of subcontractors and service providers and promotes the profitable utilization of them by our sales and operations teams.
- Develop long-term relationships and communicate on a regular basis with key clients
- Inspect key client properties to monitor performance and overall job quality
- Supports production managers in coordinating and managing client service teams
- Achieves grounds management operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
- Prepares and completes action plans; implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolves problems; completes audits; identifies trends and determines system improvements
- Work at a fast pace environment while operating with a high sense of urgency
- Must uphold company policies, procedures and company core values at all times
Skills:
- Complete knowledge of branch office functions, geographic responsibilities and customer assignments.
- Ability to communicate from any location and be available to travel to each of the areas with a high degree of flexibility.
- Ability to generate solutions that are on point, creative, and that stay consistent with the brand image of the company.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Working knowledge of industry software (Aspire), computer hardware and computer servers.
- Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, to include Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
