Position Summary
The Sales Arborist serves as the primary liaison between clients and the Company, providing expert tree and plant health care recommendations while generating profitable sales opportunities. This position combines arboricultural expertise, customer service, and business development to build long-term client relationships and drive revenue growth.
The Sales Arborist conducts property inspections, identifies tree and landscape health concerns, prepares proposals, and works closely with operations teams to ensure successful project execution. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, self-motivated, customer-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional service while growing the Company's client base.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Client Relations & Sales
- Conduct on-site consultations for residential, commercial, municipal, and HOA clients.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional customer service and communication.
- Identify client needs and recommend appropriate tree care, plant health care, and landscape enhancement services.
- Generate accurate proposals and follow up in a timely manner.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and achieve established sales goals.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries, requests, and concerns.
- Participate in networking events, industry organizations, and community outreach activities.
Arboricultural Consulting
- Perform tree and shrub inspections to assess health, structure, hazards, and maintenance needs.
- Diagnose common insect, disease, environmental, and cultural issues affecting trees and shrubs.
- Recommend pruning, removals, plant health care treatments, root zone improvements, cabling/bracing, and other arboricultural services.
- Educate clients regarding proper tree care, risk mitigation, and long-term landscape management strategies.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, ANSI A300 standards, and applicable local regulations.
Proposal Development & Project Coordination
- Prepare accurate estimates and proposals utilizing company software.
- Coordinate with operations and production teams to ensure scopes of work are clear and achievable.
- Conduct site visits as needed before, during, and after project completion.
- Monitor project quality, client satisfaction, and service delivery.
- Identify and assist with change orders and additional service opportunities.
Business Development
- Conduct outbound prospecting and develop new business opportunities through referrals, networking, property inspections, and strategic prospecting efforts.
- Build and maintain relationships with property managers, facility managers, HOA boards, municipalities, and landscape professionals.
- Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts.
- Participate in marketing initiatives, seasonal campaigns, and community engagement efforts.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate client records and activity notes within the Company's CRM system.
- Track sales activities, proposal status, and closed revenue.
- Prepare reports and maintain documentation as required.
- Attend company meetings, safety training, and professional development programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- ISA Certified Arborist credential or ability to obtain certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in arboriculture, tree care, landscape management, or a related field.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to identify common tree species, pests, diseases, and cultural issues.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and CRM software.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional ISA certifications or credentials.
- Commercial sales experience with an emphasis on outbound prospecting and business development.
- Experience using ArborGold, Aspire, or similar industry software platforms.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk properties and job sites over uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to inspect trees from ground level and access job sites safely.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use standard office equipment.
Compensation
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Commission opportunities based on sales performance.

Work Environment
This role may require work in outdoor environments, including site visits and client consultations, as well as time in an office setting. Travel between job sites and client locations is expected. Work hours may vary depending on seasonal demands and business needs.
Additional Information
This position requires regular travel to client sites and industry events. A valid driver’s license is required. Candidates must be comfortable working in both office and field environments.
