Job Description
The Utility Employee performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks such as unloading materials, preparing the worksite, cleaning debris from the worksite and executing other tasks to be assigned by the Tradesman. Light Industrial Maintenance of facilities. The Utility Employee also performs the landscaping duties of the worksite and grounds.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload supplies such as lumber and other construction materials
- Move heavy furniture and equipment using dollies, handcarts and power equipment
- Responsible for basic maintenance of buildings and properties, including light insulation, plumbing and electrical
- Gather and dispose of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with the use of powered equipment
- Observe appearance and condition of premises and equipment; report needed repairs and safety hazards
- Clean and maintaining grounds and parking areas, i.e., mowing, weed eating, trimming shrubs, snow removal, salting walkways, picking up trash, glass, or other debris
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
- Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (must be 18 or older)
- Six months of experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the utility service
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
- Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to operate and use utility tools, landscaping equipment, and supplies
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
- Greater than six months of experience in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
- Knowledge of building and property security procedures preferred
