Design-Build Crew Lead (Landscape Construction)
Position Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on Design-Build Crew Lead to take full ownership of landscape construction projects from start to finish. This role is responsible for leading a 3-person crew, executing high-quality installs, and ensuring jobs are completed on time, on budget, and to company standards.
This is not a “stand around and point” position—you will be in the field, working, solving problems, and making decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead a crew of 2–3 team members on design-build projects
- Take full ownership of each job from kickoff to final walkthrough
- Read and execute landscape plans, layouts, and specifications
- Ensure projects stay on schedule and hit production targets
Execution & Quality Control
- Install hardscapes (patios, retaining walls, walkways, etc.)
- Perform grading, drainage, planting, and finishing work
- Maintain high standards for craftsmanship and detail
- Catch and fix issues before they become problems
Crew Management
- Delegate tasks clearly and efficiently
- Train and develop crew members on proper techniques
- Hold crew accountable for performance and productivity
- Maintain a positive but disciplined jobsite culture
Client & Company Communication
- Communicate professionally with clients on-site when needed
- Coordinate with management on job progress, issues, and changes
- Document progress, materials, and any job changes
Equipment & Safety
- Operate skid steers, mini excavators, and other equipment
- Ensure tools, equipment, and trucks are maintained
- Enforce safety standards and proper jobsite practices
Qualifications
- 3+ years in landscape construction or similar field
- Proven ability to lead a crew and run jobs independently
- Strong knowledge of hardscape and softscape installation
- Ability to read plans and translate them into execution
- Experience operating equipment (skid steer, mini-ex, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license (chauffeur/CDL is a plus)
