Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Outside Nursery Sales Representative to expand our Nursery Division throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. These individuals play an integral role in our organization by developing relationships with new and return customers in order to grow new business within these accounts.
The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of plant materials, and related hardlines. Experience strong sales skills, and a proactive, customer-focused mindset. You’ll work closely with landscapers, to deliver expert solutions and outstanding service.
Sales & Business Development
Drive sales growth by generating new business and nurturing key customer relationships.
Promote Northern Nurseries’ complete product offering.
Manage assigned accounts, re-engage inactive customers, and strategically prioritize high potential prospects.
Collaborate with the General Manager to align regional sales goals and strategy.
Customer Support & Training
Provide accurate quotes and support customers through the full sales cycle.
Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly, partnering with Site Managers as needed.
Marketing & Events
Partner with Corporate Marketing on product catalogs, promotional materials, and seasonal mailings.
Represent Northern Nurseries at trade shows, industry events, and regional conferences.
Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and suggest improvements.
Product & Market Development
Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging customer needs.
Identify new product opportunities and make recommendations to enhance our product lines.
Provide insights to leadership on market trends, pricing, and customer feedback.
Reporting & Communication
Provide regular updates and weekly reports to the General Manager on sales performance, opportunities, and challenges.
Assist with internal communications to keep teams informed about new products and customer developments.
Qualifications
•3–5 years of green industry experience and a familiarity with landscape, nursery, and irrigation products preferred
•Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients to effectively grow sales, negotiate deals, resolve conflict, and provide service that leads to stellar customer satisfaction
•Knowledge of sales cycle and solution selling techniques
•Proven approach to access decision makers at client organizations
•Ability to effectively leverage CRM tools to organize accounts, manage opportunities, and drive consistent sales execution.
•Ability to think quickly and make decisions
•Understanding of sales and operations planning processes, statistical demand forecasting and integration of supply and demand plans
•Strong Knowledge of Plant Material, Hardscape Materials, and Turf Care Products.
