Role Description
As the Managing Director of an Arizona landscaping business, you will take full operational ownership of the company, overseeing all aspects of day-to-day operations including hardscaping, landscape maintenance, irrigation, and design services. You will lead bidding, estimating, and pricing to drive profitable growth, implement operational systems and KPIs to increase efficiency, and manage crews to foster a high-performing, safety-conscious culture. In addition, you will integrate and optimize any new operations acquired by Canny Capital Partners, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency across the business. Serving as the Responsible / Qualifying Party for the Arizona C-21 license, you will also collaborate closely with ownership on strategic initiatives, budgets, and operational improvements. This is a hands-on, full-time role that combines leadership, operational execution, and growth responsibility, with significant performance-based upside and potential future equity.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day landscaping operations, including hardscaping, landscape maintenance, irrigation, and design services
- Lead bidding, estimating, and pricing for all projects to ensure profitable growth
- Implement and maintain operational systems, KPIs, and workflow improvements to drive efficiency and quality
- Recruit, train, mentor, and manage crews, fostering a positive company culture and high performance
- Ensure compliance with Arizona C-21 licensing requirements, acting as the Responsible / Qualifying Party
- Collaborate with CCP to execute strategic initiatives, budgets, and growth plans
- Integrate and optimize newly acquired operations identified and acquired by CCP
- Monitor and maintain client satisfaction, project timelines, and quality standards
- Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency, profitability, and scalability
- Maintain safety standards and compliance across all job sites and crews
Qualifications
- Significant experience in a leadership role in the landscaping or related services industry.
- C-21 Landscape Contractor License or relevant qualification (required).
- Proficiency in business development, operational strategy, and client relationship management in the landscaping services or similar industries.
- Strong understanding of safety guidelines, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices for landscaping services.
- Analytical and financial acumen to optimize operations, manage budgets, and evaluate growth opportunities.
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder collaboration, team engagement, and reporting to investors and partners.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $80,000–$100,000/year (full-time)
- Performance-Based Promote: 15% of Canny Capital Partners’ upside, realized after investor capital is repaid
- Discretionary Bonuses: Based on operational performance, crew efficiency, and EBITDA growth
- Future Equity Upside: Opportunity to convert promote interest into direct equity ownership once the business scales or investors exit
Estimated Total Compensation: $110,000-$170,000, over 3-5 years.
