Red Oak Greenhouse has an immediate opening for a full-time Production Greenhouse Grower located in southwest Iowa. Established in 1879, Red Oak Greenhouse is a wholesale grower of beautiful plants year- round with a family tradition of growing lifelong partnerships one employee at a time. We are located 45 minutes southeast of Omaha; our state of the art 26 acre indoor production facility is equipped with the most up to date equipment offered in the greenhouse industry today. We are looking for a unique hands-on person requiring attention to detail. This individual will be part of all aspects of the production and growing process. Primary Responsibilities & Qualifications: Need strong problem-solving skills Will be required to obtain an Iowa Pesticide Applicators License within 90 days of employment An understanding of plant requirements such as watering, fertilization, EC and pH management, pest and disease identification/management. A basic understanding of IPM principles including scouting and application of chemicals. Self-motivated in learning growing techniques Offers a detailed work approach to growing many different crops with excellent quality Ability to multi-task and complete tasks as scheduled Strong communication skills Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere to achieve common goals Respond to and resolve alarms You will be required to climb, bend, sit, stand, kneel, walk for prolonged periods of time. Work in hot conditions during summer months. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to use required PPE such as a respirator Willing to work weekends and holidays as part of a rotation. Overtime required during busier seasons.
