Overview: The Regional Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing all operational, personnel, safety, and customer‑service functions for assigned sites. This role ensures each location operates efficiently, meets performance goals, and remains in full compliance with Company policies, OSHA and DOT regulations, and all applicable state and federal requirements. The Regional Manager plays a key leadership role in driving sales, maintaining site standards, and strengthening the Company’s reputation as an industry leader.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Site Management
- Ensure all assigned sites meet Company standards for appearance, safety, customer service, and operational performance.
- Provide on‑site support as needed, including travel to any location to resolve issues or assist with operations.
- Oversee inventory management, product quality, and merchandising standards.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to support strategic decision‑making.
Safety, DOT, and Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee OSHA safety compliance, including training, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Manage DOT compliance for drivers, vehicles, and required reporting.
- Ensure adherence to DEC and other state‑specific environmental regulations.
- Oversee Workers’ Compensation cases, accident reporting, and injury management.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all sites.
Personnel Management & Development
- Recruit, screen, and interview candidates for key roles.
- Support Site Managers in handling employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure employee files and documentation meet Company and regulatory requirements.
- Implement the performance evaluation process and ensure timely completion.
- Monitor operational deadlines and support teams in meeting goals.
- Serve as backup for Site Managers during transitions or staffing gaps.
- Develop and implement training programs for year‑round personnel, beginning at hire and continuing throughout employment.
Customer Service & Issue Resolution
- Support Site Managers in maintaining high customer service standards.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns and ensure timely follow‑up.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers and vendors.
Financial & Margin Management
- Monitor and manage operational expenses for assigned sites.
- Review and support improvement of gross margin performance.
- Oversee scrap reduction efforts and ensure accurate reporting.
- Assist with capital purchase research, proposals, and project management (land, equipment, trucks, etc.).
- Approve minor equipment and vehicle repairs.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in trade show planning, logistics, and setup.
- Complete additional duties assigned by the General Manager.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in retail nursery, irrigation and/or landscape industry preferred
- 3 to 5 years of managerial experience including leadership, issue management, motivation and team building preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA, DOT, and relevant state regulatory requirements.
- Ability to travel regularly to assigned sites.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to represent the Company professionally.
