The Hardscape Foreman is primarily responsible for performing and overseeing landscape services on time and on budget within the required parameters of the project. The foreman manages a team of Landscape Technicians and Landscape Leads and is accountable to the Vice President.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge to Install small or large scale retaining walls, Paver patios/walkways, custom fire pits, etc using pre-cast retaining wall block, cinder blocks, or stone.
- Installs and/or builds ponds, fountains, arbors, or pergolas.
- Preparing and grading terrain.
- Plants new and repairs established lawns using seed or sod.
- Locates and/or transplants shrubs, trees, and flowers according to a landscape plan.
- Trims shrubs and cultivates gardens.
- Uses manual and power-operated equipment.
- Landscape bed maintenance to include mulching, pruning and weed control.
- Applying fertilizers.
- Monitor lawn and landscape quality and reporting problems/concerns to supervisor.
- Supervise, monitor and train assigned landscape crew in an effective manner.
- Give input on performance of assigned work crew.
- Assist in employee recruitment and hiring.
- Must obtain some creativity skills.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Organize and maintain necessary equipment and materials and reports needs to supervisor.
- Must work hours needed to achieve production and goals, including working Fridays or Saturdays as required during peak season or to as requested by supervisor.
- Uses and maintains vehicles and equipment in a safe, appropriate fashion; checking all fluid levels daily and filling as needed; promptly reports any defects or damage by end of shift.
- Assists team members with other assigned duties, as requested.

Standards:
- Complete tasks as assigned and, in a manner, instructed by the supervisor.
- Completes all tasks assigned to specified quality levels by agreed upon deadlines.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe job site defined by Rock Solid Landscape standards.
- Treats customers in a polite, friendly, and respectful manner and will never ignore them.
- Observe and comply with all safety practices and reports any unsafe practices to a supervisor.
- Meets or exceeds standards for safe, proper use of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and professional appearance and conduct defined by Rock Solid Landscape standards.
Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified above.
- Must be able to stand and work for 8+ hours per day.
- Must be able to walk, bend, crouch, stoop, dig, rake, push a fertilizer spreader.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to operate vehicles and landscape equipment.
- Must comply and wear the mandatory uniform style and colors required for each position.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a commercial motor vehicle and must be able to pass a physical examination requirements and drug & alcohol testing for a DOT medical card if needed.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers, in person and on the telephone.
- Willingness to continue education.
- Good supervisory skills.
