Position Summary

Platinum Landscape is seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Estimator to support the company's preconstruction and bidding efforts. This role is responsible for reviewing bid documents, developing complete takeoffs, obtaining pricing, evaluating scope and means and methods, and assisting in the preparation of proposal packages that support accurate bidding and sound project selection.

Primary Responsibilities

- Review plans, general conditions, schedules, scopes of work, site logistics, and other bid exhibits.

- Prepare organized and complete quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted scope.

- Request and obtain quotes for all applicable scope from multiple vendors and subcontractors.

- Enter takeoff information, pricing, and supporting assumptions into the company estimating system.

- Analyze alternate means and methods and identify value engineering opportunities when appropriate.

- Draft proposal documents, clarifications, and bid support materials for internal review and submission.

- Coordinate with operations, vendors, and leadership to validate assumptions, scope coverage, and schedule considerations.

- Maintain organized bid files, quote logs, and estimating backup documentation.

Required Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED.

- 2-5 years of experience within the construction estimating field or equivalent field experience.

- Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.

- Knowledge of plant and irrigation materials, costs, and nursery sourcing.

- Ability to gather, calculate, and compile takeoff data for bid use.

- Effective oral and written communication skills.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Proficiency with On Center Software's On-Screen Takeoff (OST).

- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage multiple deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Construction management background or higher education.

- Successful estimating track record of winning public works projects.

- Successful track record of estimating and selling private residential estate projects.

Work Hours

Standard work hours for this position are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST. Additional time may be required periodically to support bid deadlines, pricing coordination, or proposal submission requirements.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based and requires regular coordination with field operations, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership. Occasional site visits may be necessary to verify scope, access, or project logistics.
