LANDSCAPE INSPECTOR I duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide support for inspections of contractual maintenance for a variety of City of Virginia Beach properties, parcels, and rights-of-way
Performs routine maintenance contract inspections, as well as park infrastructure inspections and tree condition assessments for various municipal properties and rights-of-way
Conducts inspections of City maintained properties and rights-of-ways to ensure quality control standards are maintained
Establishes priorities and work schedules in support of tasks received from higher supervision
Participates in contract administration support in parks and various contract development and reviews landscape plans to ensure they are in compliance with City ordinances by properly reviewing for content, bonding, and implementation
Provides oversight for contracted landscape installations to ensure that they are in compliance with drawings, standards, and specifications
Assists in the preparation of and review of maintenance contracts and landscape installation specifications and bids
Assists with budgetary oversight for assigned contracts
Prepares and maintains concise written records and reports documenting review comments and field inspections
Communicates effectively with the development community, contractors, the public and city staff to ensure compliance with codes and regulations
Provides expert court testimony and assistance to the public as needed
Provides training to City staff in related horticulture practices and procedures
Assists in the coordination of inspections functions as related to landscape design, installation, and maintenance with other city departments --
Responds on time to required reports, assigned projects and activities
