Position Summary
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating the golf course irrigation system to optimize playing conditions through proper water management. The Irrigation Technician duties include applying fertilizers, installing irrigation and drainage systems, troubleshooting electrical faults, diagnosing common problems, promoting workplace safety, monitoring and watering the golf course daily, repairing pipes and sprinklers, and performing general maintenance on irrigation systems. The Irrigation Technician works to ensure optimum turf conditions by utilizing irrigation controllers and central computers.
Job Duties
- Under supervision the Irrigation Technician operates, services and repairs the varied components of an irrigation system and performs related tasks as required
- Operates, maintains, inspects, and repairs complex irrigation systems, including leaks in distribution lines, valves, control lines and sprinkler heads
- Utilizes heavy machinery for the upkeep and maintenance of golf course
- Test the irrigation system to make sure it is working properly and that the water is being distributed evenly across the course
- Hand-watering to precisely target specific areas and adjust water amounts based on real-time conditions and fluctuating weather
- Monitor the irrigation system (Toro Lynx) regularly to make sure it is functioning properly and that the course is receiving the right amount of water
- Adjust the irrigation schedule as needed
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations
- Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and of various types of pumps and pumping systems required.
- Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather.
- Valid driver’s license; valid vehicle insurance
- This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company's MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.
- Two (2) years of golf course maintenance experience, preferred
Compensation
Base Pay Start Rate: $23.00
