The Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD) is seeking a Park Services Supervisor II to serve on our Facilities team at the Mather Sports Complex along with overseeing sport fields and sport courts throughout the District!
Mather Sports Complex (MSC) is a regional sports destination, featuring athletic facilities for softball, baseball, soccer, basketball, racquetball and dance, in addition to cardio and weight rooms. The complex hosts a Recreation Center, skate park, and playground as well. All indoor and outdoor facilities are available to rent for league play, tournaments or other events. In addition to the MSC, Cordova Recreation & Park District provides sports fields and sports courts at over thirty locations throughout the District.

Typical Schedule: Monday through Friday and some weekends, holidays, and after hour calls as needed.
Summary Description
Under direction of the Park Services Superintendent and/or Facilities Manager, organizes, supervises, coordinates, trains, assigns, reviews, and motivates full-time and part-time staff involved in operation and maintenance functions of the park and recreational facilities found within the Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD); oversees day-to-day park maintenance services and activities of assigned area; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions and outside agencies; and maintains effective public relations and customer service providing information and projecting positive image to the community-at-large.

Sport Fields and Sport Courts Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise specialized maintenance activities as assigned including irrigation maintenance, landscape maintenance, sports field maintenance, and other related specialized areas; check for needed installation, configuration, maintenance, and repairs; coordinate assigned functions with other divisions and outside agencies.
- Participate in the development and implementation of sports fields and sport court maintenance goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommend and administer policies and procedures.
- Direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for assigned sports fields and sport courts and activities; assign work activities and projects; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
Facility Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and supervise operation and maintenance activities within various parks and recreation facilities and other District properties in the jurisdiction of Cordova Recreation & Park District; determine need for and recommend changes in maintenance practices and alterations in facilities to increase efficiency of maintenance and operations.
- Perform quarterly facility inspections. Maintain records and oversee and implement needed repairs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Select, train, motivate, and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement personnel policies and procedures.
- Inspect the work of crews in progress and upon completion; provide advice and assistance to subordinate personnel; ensure maintenance and construction procedures are completed in a satisfactory and thorough manner and in compliance with District, departmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Review operation and maintenance work schedules and job progress to ensure maximum utilization of assigned staff, equipment, and facilities.
- Participate in the development and administration of assigned program budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Evaluate services performed and costs for services, equipment, and supplies obtained through outside contractors.
- Administer contracts, leases, and agreements and assist in the generation of revenues.
- Assist in long range planning of maintenance and operations programs of assigned park and recreation facilities.
- Supervise safety program and training of employees to ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations; oversee the inspection of equipment and work activities of employees for conformance to safety regulations.
- Coordinate the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Maintain and review records related to program activities; prepare and submit reports, correspondence, and other written documents.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of sports field, sport courts, and facility maintenance.
- In the absence of the department head, will substitute as directed.
- Perform related duties as required.

Ability to:

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Five years of experience in landscape, horticulture, park management, sport fields, facility maintenance, operations, and repairs or closely related field, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age prior to appointment due to the hazards of the job, as defined by the Fair labor Standards Act.

Required to take and pass a drug screening and physical examination.
