Position: Director of Landscape Installation
Summary: The Director of Landscape Installation (DLI) will oversee the landscape installation division of the company. The DLI will be responsible for the proper planning and execution of all landscape installation and enhancement projects. The DLI will supervise multiple Field Operations Managers (FOMs), crews, and the associated landscape projects. Integrity, innovation, teamwork, and clear communication are vital. Leadership skills are needed to monitor and evaluate projects performed by the installation division. The DLI will also be a member of the Green Summit Leadership team and have a part in shaping the direction of the company.
Reports to: VP Business Development for Installation
Director of Landscape Installation Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility for the landscape installation division including all projects by managing labor, materials, time, and customer expectations
- Ensure that all activities in the Installation division are done safely to prevent injury or damage to people, property, and equipment.
- Efficiently plan, coordinate, and oversee on-site activities Maintains the installation division schedule for all crews
- Ensures efficient coordination of FOMs, crews, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Holds staff accountable for safety, efficiency, and quality control
- Analyzes construction documents/plans, specifications, details, and/or scope of work to determine material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
- Prepares take-off reports by counting, analyzing, and summarizing information Participates in pre-construction planning regarding project schedules and budgets
- Offers recommendations to improve cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
- Manages all FOM training and development according to company procedures, goals, and values
- Holds FOMs and Crew Leaders accountable for project schedule, project hours, material orders and delivery and client updates and coordination, equipment repair, and maintenance
- Completes and maintains all required project reports and forms
- Conducts regular job site inspections Ensures all work and materials comply with specifications, timelines, and profit margins Manages subcontractors (e.g., scope of work, schedule, progress)
- Works with the sales/design team to ensure quality and accurate production rates
- Solves technical issues on as-built projects Interviews, hires, trains, disciplines, evaluates, motivates, and recognizes subordinate employees
- Informs VP of Business Development for landscape installation of the project schedule (e.g., status, budgeted hours, problems) on daily and weekly basis
- Ensures key performance indicators (e.g., hourly budgets) are reported on time and to company standards
- Provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

Technical Landscape
- Knowledge of safe practices for operating equipment and installing landscapes
- Knowledge of how to properly install irrigation systems from point of connection to completion.
- This includes all mainline, laterals, valves, backflow prevention devices, irrigation controllers etc.
- Knowledge of tree, shrub, and perennial installation and maintenance Knowledge of paver and hardscape installation.
- Knowledge of setting grades.
- Knowledge of retaining wall installation
- Knowledge of low voltage lighting installation.
- Knowledge of how to operate and maintain equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and trenchers.
- Ability to properly install boulders and boulder steps.
- Understands how to properly install gravel mulch
- Understands how to properly install natural turf grass
- Understands how to properly install artificial turf.
- Knowledge on the proper use of hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, chop saws, plate tampers, jumping jacks, wheelbarrows, sod, generators, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual is a plus - Spanish
- 5 years relevant experience in landscape installation;
- 3 years in a leadership role
- Able to accurately assess staffing needs
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and timekeeping/time-tracking systems
- Must have strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and understand plans, material lists, guidelines and meet timelines
- Experience with irrigation systems, pavers, and plant landscape material
- Must have excellent oral communication skills
- Must have previous experience managing people, planning, and organizing
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Pass a background check
- Must have a strong work ethic and able to prioritize daily tasks
- An OSHA 30 card is a plus, but willing to help obtain.
- Ability to work both independently, lead on projects where required, and contribute as a team player with a commitment to team development
- Must effectively work with and provide support to various departments, including office staff

Work Environment:
The work environment is a professional office setting. Often times will be working alone and therefore required to be self-motivated and self-starting to accomplish the job duties and responsibilities. Any offer of employment is contingent upon passing a background check. Must have a valid and current driver’s license.
