Nestled atop Mt. Sylvania meandering through rolling hills and mature forest, MPHOA is a 677-acre thriving master planned community with over 8,000 residents.
The 185 acres of MPHOA common properties include a beautifully maintained Clubhouse with indoor pools, basketball court, weight rooms; 8 parks with various amenities, nearly 9 miles of hard surface trails, urban forest, streams, wildlife habitat, right of ways, and native and ornamental landscape beds.

The Landscape Steward has courteous communication skills and a positive attitude which embraces progressive, efficient, and environmentally responsible principles. Under the direction of the Landscape Stewardship Director and Landscape Stewardship Supervisor, the Landscape Steward works independently and with team members utilizing skills to maintain and enhance MPHOA Common Property by performing the duties below:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, bulbs, native plants, etc. as directed.
- Maintain, repair, and install irrigation systems and program irrigation system controllers.
- Grub and weed around shrubs, trees, and flower beds, apply wood chips and compost to designated areas.
- Apply organic herbicides and fertilizers.
- Selectively prune shrubs and trees for health and structure.
- Assist with stream restoration, stormwater management, and erosion control projects.
- Repair outdoor infrastructure such as benches, guardrails, hardscape, and asphalt paths.
- Assist with outdoor construction projects.
- Work with the Codes, Compliance & Rules (CC&R) Director on issues affecting the private-common property interface.
- Carry out all tasks and duties with emphasis on safety, including working alongside streets and roadways.
- Maintain and utilize GIS management system, Rain Bird irrigation software, Vantaca (Homeowner portal) action items daily to assist in workflow management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Urban Forestry and Landscape Management.
- Be able to utilize and read GIS maps and resources or a willingness to learn.
- Must possess or be willing to learn the safe operation of a variety of landscape equipment such as hand tools, power shears, string trimmers, chainsaws, chipper, riding and push mowers, blower, and tractor and Bobcat with attachments.
- Operate and lightly maintain landscape vehicles such as trucks and UTVs with trailer.
- Must have knowledge of small engine maintenance/repair or willing and able to learn.
- Must have a valid Oregon Driver's License and safe driving record.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate possesses an excellent attitude and willingness to learn. While not necessary, the ideal candidate will also have an Associate degree and 1-2 years of experience, Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis on landscape maintenance, horticulture, arboriculture, forest management, natural resource management, and/or land stewardship.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to perform highly dexterous tasks, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to walk, climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and mostly works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is often moderate to high.
